TrueLuvTake2 is a new online platform for finding love after 50, built on a simple, science-backed idea its founder calls Lovespan™: that love and companionship help us live longer, healthier lives.
TrueLuvTake2, a new online platform built to help adults over 50 find real love, is launching in Boston. Founded by Monique Alemán, it offers a people-first alternative to the dating apps: rather than swiping through strangers, a member's most trusted people help guide the search. The platform is grounded in an idea Alemán coined called Lovespan™: that love and companionship help us live longer, healthier lives.
"Matching doesn't begin with data. It begins with self-knowing."
Monique Alemán, Founder — TrueLuvTake2We track our healthspan. We measure our lifespan. We chase our peak years. Alemán says there is one more span most of us overlook, and it may matter most of all: our Lovespan™, the way love and companionship lengthen and enrich the years we have.
TrueLuvTake2 is built for adults over 50 who are done with swiping and ready for something real. It started in Boston, and it is drawing people from across the country who are tired of being reduced to a thumbnail and a snap judgment.
Introducing Lovespan™
Lovespan™ is Monique Alemán's term for a simple, powerful idea: that companionship and healthy love relationships extend life. Decades of research connect strong relationships to longer, healthier years, and loneliness to the opposite. Love is not a luxury at this stage of life. It is part of how we stay well. Yet the need goes largely unmet. About four in ten adults over 50 in the United States are unmarried, more than 40 million people, and a large share are open to connection yet worn down by platforms built for speed and volume. The share of adults over 50 who are divorced has roughly doubled since 1990. Love later in life is not rare, Alemán says. It is simply under-supported.
"We obsess over how long we live and how well we age," said Alemán. "We rarely talk about how much love adds to those years. Lovespan is the part we have been missing, and it deserves the same care we give everything else."
A Calmer, More Human Front Door
TrueLuvTake2 replaces swiping with something steadier. Creating a presence is free. Every person adds a photo and a short video, so identity is real and human from the very first moment. In a landscape where romance scams and fake profiles target adults over 50, the stance is firm: no AI-generated profiles, no bots, no unverified strangers. You always know the person is real.
What truly sets it apart is who does the looking. Inside The Garden, the private community at the heart of the platform, a member never scrolls profiles and never swipes. Their Love Team browses on their behalf. The pressure, the late-night scrolling, and the fatigue are simply lifted away.
The Garden is intentionally curated. Every member is verified and genuinely ready, so no one walks into a room of strangers or swipes through faces. It is a calmer, more human way to begin, and a deliberate departure from everything that made the apps exhausting.
The Love Team
"Think of your Love Team as exactly that, your team for love. These are the people who know you, care about you, and can see what you sometimes can't see in yourself. No algorithm or professional matchmaker can replicate that."
Monique Alemán, Founder — TrueLuvTake2A member's Love Team typically includes one or two adult children plus a Trusted Love Advisor, with flexible options for those with one child or none. They browse The Garden on the member's behalf, screening, getting to know people, and bringing forward a short list of thoughtful introductions. What remains is the part only the member can judge: chemistry, compatibility, and desire. The role of the Love Team is support, not pressure.
The Freedom to Choose Love Again
For many people over 50, dating again can feel like an obligation or a performance. TrueLuvTake2 starts from a different belief. Choosing love again is an act of freedom, not a chore. This season especially, Alemán is inviting people to reclaim that freedom, on their own terms and at their own pace.
Why It Matters Now
A growing chorus is naming the problem. Researchers, journalists, therapists, and the adults living it all describe the same thing: loneliness, gray divorce, and dating fatigue are louder than ever, while the tools on offer are built for someone half their age. Far fewer voices are offering a real answer. TrueLuvTake2 is built to be one. It is not another app. It is a new pathway, a different way of thinking about how connection begins.
The need is close to home. Nationwide, one in three divorces now involves someone over 50. Roughly 2.7 million Massachusetts residents are 50 or older, and by national patterns an estimated one million across the Commonwealth are single. TrueLuvTake2 was born in Boston, for them first.
"This stage of life is not a problem to solve," Alemán said. "It's a chapter to celebrate."
A Philosophy, Not Just a Platform
TrueLuvTake2 is launching with a focus on community, conversation, and intentional engagement. Its philosophy is simple:

Notes to Editors
National figures: Pew Research Center reports the share of U.S. adults 50 and older who are unmarried rose to about 40 percent in 2020. Applied to the more than 110 million adults over 50 counted by the U.S. Census Bureau, that represents over 40 million people. The gray divorce rate among adults 50 and older has roughly doubled since 1990, and about one in three U.S. divorces now involves an adult over 50 (Bowling Green State University, National Center for Family and Marriage Research, Brown and Lin). Massachusetts figures are drawn from U.S. Census Bureau and state population data. Lovespan™ is a term coined by Monique Alemán, grounded in research on social connection and longevity, including the Harvard Study of Adult Development and meta-analyses by Holt-Lunstad and colleagues.
